Winter Olympics: Poland’s Hojnisz 6th in women’s biathlon

Poland’s Monika Hojnisz finished sixth in the women’s 15-kilometre individual biathlon competition at the winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, on Thursday.

Her compatriot Weronika Nowakowska placed 21st, and two other Poles, Krystyna Guzik and Magdalena Gwizdoń, came in 52nd and 83rd respectively.

Sweden’s Hanna Oeberg unexpectedly triumphed in the event, ahead of second-placed Anastasiya Kuzmina of Slovakia and third-placed German Laura Dahlmeier, whose bronze medal was her third at the Games in South Korea.

Biathlon is an Olympic winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and rifle shooting.
