Horngacher made the announcement together with Apoloniusz Tajner, head of the Polish Ski Association (PZN), in front of television cameras on Sunday.

Horngacher took over from Pole Łukasz Kruczek as coach of the Polish men’s team two years ago and has been behind some of the country’s biggest successes in ski jumping.

Poland's top ski jumper Kamil Stoch on Sunday claimed his second overall World Cup title.

Earlier this year, Stoch won the prestigious Four Hills tournament and grabbed his third Olympic gold.

Poland took the bronze in the men's large hill ski-jumping team competition at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in February.

Polish ski jumpers dominated the previous World Cup season as a team, winning the circuit's Nations Cup overall.

This season the Polish team finished third in the Nations Cup, behind Norway and Germany.

Horngacher led Poland to victory in the men's ski-jumping team competition at the Nordic Ski World Championships in Lahti, Finland, in March last year.
