The Poles had on Tuesday beaten China 3-2 in a victory that delighted fans and were close to pulling off another surprise win in the game against European champions Serbia in Macau, south China, on Wednesday.
The Polish squad was on Thursday set to face off against Thailand in the last of a series of games in Macau.
The Volleyball Nations League is a new idea from the FIVB, the sport’s international governing body. The annual women's international volleyball tournament is contested by 16 national teams and replaces the World Grand Prix.
