The Polish star, who has recently been hit by health problems and a slump in form, was beaten 5-7, 4-6 by the Czech Republic’s Lucie Šafářová on Wednesday.

It was Radwańska’s worst performance in the London Grand Slam event since 2011, when she managed to win only one match.

The Pole missed this season’s French Open tournament, her first Grand Slam absence since 2006.

Radwańska recently moved up a notch to No. 30 in the latest ranking by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA).
