Two Poles have volunteered to help in a potential attempt to rescue a Russian climber trapped on the slopes of Latok 1, part of the Karakoram mountain range in Pakistan, according to reports.

The Polish duo who offered help are Adam Bielecki and Andrzej Bargiel, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

But according to Poland’s sportowefakty.wp.pl website, neither of the Poles are currently at Latok 1 base camp.

Russian mountaineer Alexander Gukov is trapped at 6,200 metres on Latok 1, according to the planetmountain.com website.

Bargiel on Sunday succeeded in skiing down K2, the world’s second highest mountain, Polish Radio reported. The feat was a world first.
