Volleyball: Poland beat Cuba in world championship opener

Poland, the defending champions, were on Thursday set to take on Puerto Rico in their next match at the championships, which run from September 10 to 30.

The Poles, managed by Belgian coach Vital Heynen, play Bulgaria, Iran, Finland and Puerto Rico as well as Cuba in the first round of the championships, which are being jointly hosted by Bulgaria and Italy.

The finals of the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championships will take place in Turin, Italy.

The FIVB volleyball federation is the sport's international governing body.
