Lewandowski’s goal on Wednesday came in the 10th minute of play and marked the 46th time the Polish star striker has scored in the Champions League across 76 matches.
The Pole scored five goals in 11 games in last season’s Champions League and bagged eight goals in nine matches in the 2016/2017 Champions League.
Meanwhile, Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny saved a penalty as his Juventus side defeated Valencia 2-0 in the group stage of the Champions League on Wednesday.
Several other Poland internationals are also hoping to make their mark in this season’s Champions League, among them Arkadiusz Milik and Piotr Zieliński (both Napoli), and Maciej Rybus and Grzegorz Krychowiak (both Lokomotiv Moscow).
The 32 teams in the Champions League group stage will take part in a total of six rounds of fixtures, which began on September 18 and conclude on December 12.
The Champions League final will be played on June 1 next year in Madrid, Spain.
