Belgium have moved to the top of the FIFA rankings, alongside world champions France, the first time two teams have shared the top spot.

Poland last month moved down from eighth to 18th place in the FIFA table.

The Polish team failed to advance to the knockout phase of the recent World Cup in Russia. The squad lost 1-2 to Senegal and 0-3 to Colombia in the group stage.

The Poles won their final game, beating Japan 1-0, but finished bottom of their Group H.

Following their early exit from the tournament, Jerzy Brzęczek took over as Poland manager, replacing Adam Nawałka.

Poland this month drew 1-1 with Italy in their first match in the new UEFA Nations League and tied 1-1 with Ireland in a friendly game.

Last year Poland climbed to No. 5 in the FIFA table, the best result for the Polish team since the world football governing body’s ranking was launched in 1992.

Poland's lowest place was 78th, in 2013.
