The number of young Polish athletes supported financially by the government-backed Team 100 initiative has grown to 250, Sports Minister Witold Bańka has said.

The project was jointly created last year by the Sports and Tourism Ministry and the Polish National Foundation (PFN), established by major Treasury-owned companies with the aim of boosting Poland's image internationally.
The programme sponsors talented competitors aged 18 to 23.
At a press conference at the National Stadium in Warsaw on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Gliński told athletes: “You are the elite … Your successes are important to us all. In the contemporary world this is crucially important in terms of image.”
