Tennis: Poland’s Kubot wins China Open doubles title

Poland’s Łukasz Kubot and Brazil’s Marcelo Melo have won the men’s doubles competition at the China Open tennis tournament in Beijing.

The Polish-Brazilian duo beat Austria’s Oliver Marach and Croatia’s Mate Pavic 6-1, 6-4 in the championship match on Sunday.
Kubot and Melo on Saturday defeated Colombians Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 in the semifinals.
The Pole and the Brazilian outplayed India’s Rohan Bopanna and France’s Édouard Roger-Vasselin 4-6, 6-4, 12-10 in the quarterfinals on Thursday.
Kubot and Melo were last year named the men’s doubles team of 2017 by the International Tennis Federation (ITF).
