Jan Kałusowski came third in the men's 200m breaststroke final.

In the men's 4x100m medley relay, the Polish team – Kałusowski, Jakub Kraska, Jakub Majerski and Bartłomiej Koziejko – took Poland’s second bronze.

These were the first Polish medals at the Youth Olympic Games.

But Polish tennis player Iga Świątek has already secured at least a silver.

Świątek, along with her Slovenian partner Kaja Juvan, has made it to the final of the women’s doubles. On Saturday they take on Japanese pair Yuki Naito and Naho Sato.

Sixty-nine Poles are competing in the Youth Olympic Games, which run until October 18.

In the first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore in 2010, Poles won nine medals. In the next games in Nanjing, China, in 2014 they won ten.
