Świątek on Saturday won the women’s doubles competition at the Games in Argentina, partnering with Slovenia’s Kaja Juvan.

The Polish-Slovenian duo beat Japan’s Yuki Naito and Naho Sato 6-7, 7- 5, 10-4 in the final.

Świątek’s gold marked the fourth medal of the Games for Poland, after two bronzes and a silver in swimming events.

Poland’s Jan Kałusowski has claimed the bronze in the men's 200m breaststroke, and the Polish team of Kałusowski, Jakub Kraska, Jakub Majerski and Bartłomiej Koziejko added another in the men's 4x100m medley relay.

Poland’s Jakub Kraska has taken the silver in the men’s 100m freestyle.

Sixty-nine Poles are competing in the 2018 Youth Summer Olympic Games, which run until October 18.

In the first such Games in Singapore in 2010, Poles won nine medals. Four years later in Nanjing, China, they won 10.

Świątek in July won the girls' singles title at the Wimbledon tennis championships in London.
