Mateusz Waligóra, a resident of the southwestern Polish city of Wrocław, on Monday successfully completed his 58-day solo trek through the Mongolian part of the desert, Polish Radio reported.

The 31-year-old travelled a total of 1,785 kilometres, pulling behind him a cart loaded with up to 200 kilogrammes of trekking equipment, water and food supplies.

Along the way he braved sandstorms, extreme heat during the day and temperatures below freezing at night, in addition to health and equipment problems and tremendous fatigue, the Polish public broadcaster reported.
