Six medals for Poles at Youth Olympic Games

Poles have won six medals at the Youth Summer Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, which were due to end on Thursday.

Rising Polish tennis star Iga Świątek won a gold in the women’s doubles competition at the Games in Argentina.

Poland’s Jan Kałusowski claimed the bronze in the men's 200m breaststroke, and the Polish team of Kałusowski, Jakub Kraska, Jakub Majerski and Bartłomiej Koziejko added another in the men's 4x100m medley relay.

Poland’s Jakub Kraska took the silver in the men’s 100m freestyle.

Gracjan Kozak took a bronze in the discus, and Kamil Kasperczak took another as part of a pentathlon team.

Sixty-nine Poles competed in total. The Youth Olympics do not have a formal medals ranking by country.

The closing ceremony of the Games was due to be held on Thursday evening.

In the first such Games in Singapore in 2010, Poles won nine medals. Four years later in Nanjing, China, they won 10.
