Russia’s Evgeni Klimov came first, followed by Germany’s Stephan Leyhe and Japan’s Ryoyu Kobayashi.

Two other Poles made the top 10 in the individual event at the southern Polish mountain resort of Wisła: Piotr Żyła, who came sixth, and Dawid Kubacki, who finished eighth.

Polish fans’ appetite for success was considerable after a morale-boosting season opener on Saturday, when their country’s ski jumpers won the World Cup team competition in Wisła.

The Polish squad, comprising Stoch, Żyła, Jakub Wolny and Kubacki, finished ahead of Germany and Austria.
