The second-best Polish finisher, Dawid Kubacki, placed a distant 18th at the competition in Innsbruck, Austria.

In a familiar pattern this season, Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi won Friday's competition. Austria’s Stefan Kraft was runner-up and Andreas Stjernen of Norway rounded off the podium in third place.

Kobayashi, who also won the two previous legs of the Four Hills series, increased his tournament lead, while also extending his lead of this season’s World Cup standings.

Poland’s Stoch, a triple Olympic champion, was fourth and countryman Kubacki was seventh in the Four Hills Tournament standings with one leg to go.

Kubacki placed third in the second leg of the tournament in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, on Tuesday. He finished fifth in the tournament's opening event in Oberstdorf, Germany, on Sunday.

The Four Hills Tournament, which is part of the ski-jumping World Cup circuit, features a series of four competitions taking place in Germany and Austria every year.

The final stop after Innsbruck is Austria’s Bischofshofen, where the world's top ski jumpers are scheduled to compete on Sunday.

Poland’s Stoch won last season’s Four Hills Tournament and also triumphed at the 2016/2017 tournament, ahead of teammate Żyła and another Pole, Maciej Kot, in fourth place.

Polish ski jumpers in November won a World Cup team competition in Wisła, southern Poland.
