Tennis: Poland’s Kubot into 2nd round of Australian Open

Poland’s Łukasz Kubot and Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos have made it through to the second round of the men’s doubles at the Australian Open Grand Slam tennis tournament.

The pair on Wednesday beat Slovenia’s Aljaz Bedene and Germany’s Maximilian Marterer 7-5, 5-7, 6-3.
Kubot and Zeballos next take on the winners of a match pitting America’s Mackenzie McDonald and Tennys Sandgren against French pair Fabrice Martin and Jeremy Chardy.
Meanwhile, rising Polish tennis star Iga Świątek has advanced to the second round of the women's singles at the Australian Open in her Grand Slam debut.
Świątek, 17, beat Romania’s Ana Bogdan 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in Melbourne on Tuesday.
