Poland on Monday won 85-76 (26-16, 20-20, 20-14, 19-26) at the Ergo Arena in the northern city of Gdańsk.

The event marks the Polish team’s eighth victory, and fifth in a row, in the tournament’s group phase.

The Polish squad had already advanced to the World Cup finals after beating Croatia 77-69 on Friday.

The last time the Poles played in the finals was in Uruguay in 1967, where the team came fifth.

This year’s championships will be held in China from August 31 to September 15.
