Tennis: Poland’s Hurkacz through to third round at Indian Wells

Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz has advanced to the third round of the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament at Indian Wells, California, with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 win against France’s Lucas Pouille.

The 22-year-old Polish player next faces sixth-seeded Kei Nishikori of Japan in the men’s singles competition at Indian Wells.
Hurkacz, who is world No. 67, outshone Nishikori at the Dubai Open tournament earlier this year, winning 7-5, 5-7, 6-2.
Meanwhile, Poland’s Magda Linette has crashed out of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells after losing to Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands, 4-6, 1-6, in the second round.
