After four days of qualifiers at the Circuito De Almeria track in Spain, 18 women “representing 13 nationalities will be making history by racing in the first ever all-female single-seater racing series,” the wseries.com website reported.

The six-race championships open in Hockenheim, Germany on May 3-4 and end at Brands Hatch in Britain on August 10-11.

Up for grabs is a prize fund totalling USD 1.5 million.

"I’m very happy that I made it into the final line-up,” Rdest said after being selected.

The W Series, which will see competitors driving Formula Three cars, was publicly launched in October.

Over 100 racers from around the world applied to join the new series, which aims to help women climb the motorsport ladder.
