“Most importantly, we must not fall from the level that has so far been achieved,” Smuda said at a press conference this morning as he continues to prepare for the Euro 2012 football championships being co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine next summer.

The squad announced today will be close to the one which will go into Euro 2012.

“Before the tournament we will have only one month to prepare, so it's important not to have to start again from scratch,” Smuda said.

Poland will be playing Italy at the new stadium in Wroclaw on 11 November and Hungary four days later in Poznan.

The squad:

goalkeepers: Łukasz Fabiański, Wojciech Szczęsny (both Arsenal FC)
