The 22-year-old Pole took just 53 minutes to win herself a place in the quarter-finals, surprising even herself in the process.

“I'm a little shocked that I won so easily,” she told the Polish Press Agency after the clash.

“It was decidedly my day,” she said. “Practically everything went my way.”

However, the Cracovian will face a much tougher challenge in the quarter-finals on Tuesday.

Radwanska, currently rated No. 8 in the WTA rankings, will go head to head with world No. 3, Belarusian Victoria Azarenka.

However, the Pole can at least concentrate on her singles now, after losing the third round of the doubles competition.

Radwanska and her Slovakian partner Daniela Hantuchova were knocked out by Italian pair Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. (nh)
