From the Archives :: Artist Feliks Topolski

Born in Warsaw in 1907, Topolski settled in England in 1935 and developed a fine career as a portrait artist and draughtsman. In 1975 he started working on a panoramic 600-foot long visual record of the personalities and social and political events spanning several decades of the twentieth century. He donated it to the British nation in 1984 but left it unfinished at the time of his death in 1989. It is on view in the artist’s former studio under the railway arches of Hungerford Bridge next to London's Royal Festival Hall.
