  • Legendary Polish runner reports on Olympic preparations. Sports reporter Danuta Isler talks to Irena Szewinska.
Irena Szewinska, veteran sprinter and owner of seven Olympic medals, talks about London, Olympic village and Polish chances ahead of the Games' opening.

Four years ago the Polish Olympic team brought home 10 medals. Two hundred eighteen Polish athletes representing Poland during this year's Games are expected to do no worse.

The biggest Polish hopes are those with a previous record of Olympic trophies, including track & fielders Anna Rogowska competing in the pole vault and Tomasz Majewski in the shot put.

Our sports editor Danuta Isler spoke to Irena Szewinska, a veteran sprinter with a place in the International Association of Athletics Federations Hall of Fame, and a member of the International Olympic Committee. She has been in London for the past few weeks, overseeing the final preparations.
