Last week leader of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, announced to surprised journalists that Piotr Glinski, little-known outside the world of academia, was his choice to head a government of experts in Poland.

Law and Justice would table a motion of no confidence in the Civic Platform-led coalition and an all party government would take over, said Kaczynski.

Law and Justice have little chance of pushing the motion through parliament as they lack the necessary votes and the move has been called a “stunt” by government spokespeople.

But Piotr Glinski, a former head of the Polish Sociological Association, tells out reporter Michal Kubicki, “I don’t pretend to be a politician. I’m Piotr Glinski, a professor of sociology with a huge experience in social and public affairs and I want to change Poland”. (pg)
