In this week's Q&A we look at the social problem of childhood caries.

Cavities and overbite are highly common among kids shows reseach run by Warsaw-based Julia Squirrel Foundation running a nationwide programme of dental checkups in schools, kindergartens, and orphanages.

The organisation points to poor access to proper medical care and appallingly low health awareness among the parents as the reason behind grim statistics.

"There are families that have one toothbrush per household," says Marcin Cejrowski, a volunteer and friend of the foundation.
