Talisman Energy of Canada and the US's Marathon announced that they were ending their search for shale gas.

But as Danusia Isler reports, Talisman Energy has merely transferred its operations to another partner, San Leon Energy.

"It is a pity that the companies are withdrawing from Poland but I do not have a say on their plans,” Poland's chief geologist Piotr Woźniak tells Polish Radio.

“It would be a bad sign if the concessions were left without being transferred to another company. Speaking on behalf of the body issuing such concessions I can say that whether the same drilling is done by a company whose name starts with a T, B or C is of secondary importance when taking into consideration the effectiveness of the search for unconventional gas," he said.
