The project is sponsored by the Foreign Ministry in Warsaw within the framework of the Polish Aid program.

Last year Poland spent 1.3 billion zloty, roughly 310 million euro, in foreign aid. The funds went for a wide gamut of projects ranging from the construction of nurseries or financing of kindergartens to sharing know-how, as in the case of police expertise.

“When speaking about European standards, we are speaking about new methods of activity, new equipment which is used around the world. That means we have to get the best practice from the Polish partners,” says Vladimir Negura from the Department for International Cooperation and Integration at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As Slawek Szefs reports, Moldova has high hopes attached to the November scheduled Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius. It is counting that one of its crowning results might be the signing of an association agreement with the European Union. Factors still hampering such possibility are various political problems currently experienced by Moldova and lack of a stable government in Chisinau.
