A forgotten opera becomes a manifesto of love in Poland of the 1980s.
Maria by Roman Statkowski is produced by the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk, which brings over the production that electrified audiences at Wexford two years ago. The opera is part of the Solidarity of Arts festival in Gdańsk, days before the 33rd anniversary of events that preceded the creation of Solidarność.
Director Michael Gieleta and conductor Łukasz Borowicz are speaking to Elżbieta Krajewska .
