Researchers and growers gathered in Warsaw to celebrate 100 years since the birth of Professor Szczepan Pieniążek, the father of modern Polish horticulture.

Poland is proud of its apples, taking over from China this year as the world's largest exporter of the fruit.
As Ela Krajewska reports, the apple was very much the star of a meeting at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, bringing together specialists in horticulture and celebrating the birth centennial of pomologist Professor Szczepan Pieniążek, pioneer of the science in Poland.
