A report released by the Ponton Group of Sex Educators in Warsaw has shown that some 25 percent of women aged between 16 and 35 have either sought a gynecologist’s counseling once in their life or sporadically.

The study took in the results of an online questionnaire completed by 2,500 women, a third of whom admit that a gynecological visit is a source of stress or psychological discomfort.

Alongside the taboo surrounding women’s reproductive health issues in Poland, the report also points to a number of factors that prompt many young women to steer clear of gynecologists.

“Gynecologists don’t behave like professionals, they are very indelicate, they often ask questions about the patients' private life and judge their decisions on having a family or getting pregnant,” Paulina Wawrzyńczyk from the Ponton Group told Q&A host Alicja Baczyńska.
