  • Polish Righteous honoured in Warsaw. John Beauchamp reports.
A lunch was held over the weekend to honour Polish Righteous Among the Nations who saved Jews during the Second World War.

As John Beauchamp reports, the bi-annual event, hosted by the New York-based Jewish Foundation for the Righteous, is an opportunity to say thank-you to those people who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust.

“They did what other people did not do, they had the courage to care, and they had the courage to act,” said Stanlee Stahl, the JFR Executive Vice-President, during the meeting.

“I can’t think of a more important place to be, these are people who saved the lives of Jews and the soul of Europe,” said Chief Rabbi of Poland, Michael Schudrich.

We also hear from the daughter of Jerzy Sliwczynski, former President of the Polish Society of the Righteous. Also commenting are the Israeli Ambassador, Zvi Rav-Ner, and the US Ambassador to Poland, Stephen Mull.
