Periodical consultations of foreign and defence ministers of Poland and the UK have been regularly held since October 2010 when the ‘four’ first met in London.

As Slawek Szefs reports, the latest such meeting, on Monday, concerned preparations to the September planned NATO summit in Wales and stronger visibility of the Alliance on the Eastern flank.

However, the issues most strongly voiced by ministers Radoslaw Sikorski, Tomasz Siemoniak, Philip Hammond and Michael Fallon were EU actions vis-a-vis Russia in connection with the situation in eastern Ukraine and the tragedy of the Malaysian Airlines flight MH17.

“There will be further costs that they will incur. [This will mean] further damage to the Russian economy through sanctions,” said Foreign Secretary Hammond.
