“I wouldn’t expect any breakthrough, just a step in the longer-term adjustment [of NATO],” says Kociszewski, who adds that the Alliance “has huge challenges and it has to rethink its strategy.”

Speaking on the possible positioning of NATO logistics bases in the Alliance’s eastern flank, a key issue pushed by Central European countries, Kociszewski remarks by saying that “the construction of NATO logistics seems to reflect … the Cold War era, with the centre in Western Germany, however, the border of NATO has moved 1,000 km to the east.”

However, changes are not going to happen overnight: “We have to think about changing NATO as a long-term investment,” Kociszewski concludes.
