As Slawek Szefs reports, the new EC line-up includes 9 former prime ministers and deputy government heads as well as 19 former or outgoing national cabinet ministers.
President Jean-Claude Juncker introduced his team as an experienced group of specialists both in economic affairs and foreign policy matters.
Bienkowska’s assignment to the post of Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry and SME is seen as a meaningful success for Poland.
“The post carries crucial importance, if only for the reason that the internal Union market is seen as one of the weakest elements of European integration because it remains an incomplete process,” says Sebastian Plociennik from the Polish Institute of International Affairs.
