How are commentators reacting to Ewa Kopacz's policy statement to parliament on Wednesday after taking over from Donald Tusk as prime minister?

Following a Wednesday morning policy speech to the Sejm and several hours of debate by MPs, Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz and her cabinet received the parliamentary green light to go ahead with their self-set tasks and challenges.

The gamut of issues dealt with in the speech ranged from social related problems of Polish families to matters of national defense and security.

"My government has received a strong mandate of trust. Now, that credit of confidence must be paid through our work and all my cabinet members have full understanding of this," Kopacz told reporters after the confidence vote.

“She is managing to very quickly assert her position and demonstrate that she is the actual leader and not a substitute for Mr. Tusk. The change in tone and the shifts in policy are clearly visible,” Marcin Sobczyk, acting Warsaw bureau chief of The Wall Street Journal, tells Polish Radio.
