Poland won plaudits at the Warsaw-hosted 87th Rose-Roth seminar of NATO-member parliamentarians and experts for its vow to increase defence spending, at a time when many nations are making cuts.

“At a time when many allies have cut defense spending, Poland is boosting its military, investing in a modernized army and is now committed to spending 2 percent of its GDP on defense,” said Hugh Bayley, president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly - an inter-parliamentary organization grouping MPs from 19 North Atlantic Treaty Organization nations and 17 associate parliaments – while speaking about new challenges facing the Alliance in Eastern Europe.

This process is also manifested by a broad change in the concept of consolidating Poland’s arms industry.

"So far, Polish companies were bidding against each other for Polish contracts. They were also engaged in mutual competition on foreign markets,” Zdzisław Gawlik, secretary-of-state at the Treasury Ministry, told Polish Radio.
