“My first impression is that they really pulled it off,” Jonathan Ornstein from the Jewish Community Centre in Kraków says of the new Museum of the History of Polish Jews - Polin, which was officially inaugurated on Tuesday, adding that it “will put Poland in a better light”.

“Very often Poland is a deep wound for many in the Jewish world because of what happened here, because of the Holocaust, and I think that this museum will go a long way to helping people around the world, and Jews around the world understand that Poland shouldn’t be defined only by the Holocaust period,” Ornstein told reporter John Beauchamp.

“Poland gets a bad rap a lot of the time […] some of [the blame] is fair, some of isn’t, and I think that that’s a dialogue that’s going on now,” he adds.
