According to the World Health Organisation 33 percent of women all over the world who are killed die from the hands of their intimate partner. As Urszula Nowakowska, head of the Women’s Rights Center in Warsaw claims while this rate in Poland may be somewhat lower, the overall percentage of women who die in situations related to domestic violence could be much higher.

“There may be even 500 women who die because of their domestic violence experience, not only directly killed but those who are beaten and then die later, those who committed suicide,” says Urszula Nowakowska, from the Women’s Rights Center in Warsaw. “And we still have to take into consideration that many women may die later, because of many injuries – we cannot forget about those women as well.”
