The Polish Economy Ministry has announced plans to spend over 3 million zloty (around 1 mln USD) to improve exports to 11 countries in Asia and the Balkans.

The promotional campaign will include trade missions to countries such as Azerbaijan, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Malaysia. Apart from 7 Asian markets 4 Balkan onces were selected - Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia & Hercegovina and Macedonia.

"We don't want small producers to get hurt as a result of the Russian embargo. That is why we have started this program - to show them how to diversify. They have to be on three or four markets the moment one of the markets gets in any kind of trouble," Ilona Antoniszyn-Klik, deputy economy minister told reporter Danuta Isler.

Before the import ban was announced last August, Russia was one of the biggest buyers of Polish food and agricultural produce. In 2013, it had a 6.5 percent share in the sector's exports.
