One in three women in the world have become the target of physical or sexual abuse in their life, the United Nations has declared.

"The World Health Organisation has declared violence against women to be a global health problem of epidemic proportion," Executive Director of UN Women Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka says.
As Alicja Baczynska reports, in Poland one of the key challenges is domestic violence, which as the Plenipotentiary for Equal Rights Małgorzata Fuszara states, is a problem in which 90 percent of the victims are women, and 90 percent of the offences are perpetrated by men.
According to some studies, even up to 33 percent of women acknowledge they experience violence from the member of their family in Poland, Urszula Nowakowska, from the Center of Women's Rights, says.
