CIA report draws controversy in Poland
Findings of the just published US Senate Intelligence Committee research on the CIA's detention and interrogation program continue to evoke strong reactions in Europe, including Poland.
As Slawek Szefs reports, the controversial issue draws attention of both political circles and public opinion.
“No one should build national security through methods of torture and disregard for law because this puts them in the same position as the terrorist,” Draginja Nadazdin, director of Amnesty International Polska, told Polish Radio.
“We cannot persist in observing all principles which we are subject to as, at the same time, we will be murdered by these terrorists,” argues Lukasz Kister, expert from the Center for Studies on Terrorism at Collegium Civitas.
