As John Beauchamp reports, while Poland has declared its readiness to send military instructors to help train the Ukranian army, Poland’s Defence Minister Tomasz Siemoniak told broadcaster TVN24 that the training will be for Ukrainian non-commissioned officers.

“[There’s] no doubt that this is necessary and some would say it’s long overdue,” Polish Radio’s senior foreign correspondent and military expert Jarosław Kociszewski highlighted.

The decision has been met with approval across the board. Head of the opposition Law and Justice parliamentary club, Mariusz Błaszczak told Polish Radio that NATO should provide assistance to Ukraine, adding that sanctions against Russia are still needed.

“We should support Ukraine in view of our own security. The free world, the Western world, should stop Putin’s aggression and it can do this, and the most effective means it has are sanctions,” he said.
