As Agnieszka Bielawska reports, the number of the species, quite numerous in the 1930s, has been cut down drastically due to human activities and the harbour porpoises, especially in Polish waters, are very few.

WWF Polska has come up with an action which is aimed to help the mammals, and at the same time raise the awareness of Poles that the Polish Baltic is home to shy and vulnerable sea creature...

“The focus is on the Baltic population of the harbour porpoise, which now numbers 450 animals,” alarms Iwona Pawliczak from the Hel Marine Station.
