Four years have elapsed since the first protests in Syria led to war.

The country has paid a great price, with estimates that the strife has cost the lives of at least 215,000 people. Twelve million have fled their homes, in what has been called the biggest humanitarian disaster since World War 2.
Radio Poland’s Wojciech Cegielski spoke to Idris Mayya, acting Ambassador of Syria in Poland.
“No army in the world, not even the American army, can control every centimetre of the country. I can assure you, that as president Assad once said, the Syrian army will not rest until Rakka and remaining Syrian lands are recovered,” Mayya said.
