As Elżbieta Krajewska reports, in Kiev, President Komorowski made an address to the Ukrainian assembly in the presence of President Poroshenko and PM Areseniy Yatsenyuk.

Speaking in Kiev at the start of his visit on Wednesday, President Komorowski announced that Poland would be ready to participate in a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine. Such a mission – as he noted – would still need authorisation from the United Nations Security Council.

“We assume that a solution based on non-engaged countries is possible, but were there to be a different decision, Poland would not shrink from participation in an operation of this kind,” he said. Kiev is lobbying for a UN mission, which the Ukrainian side sees as an optimal solution.
