Katowice hosts European Economic Congress

The European Economic Congress is underway in the southern city of Katowice, where for three days business leaders mingle with politicians from Poland, Europe, and beyond.

Monday's inaugural session concentrated on the EU's new budget until 2020 - some 300 billion euro are earmarked for the Central European region in EU funds. John Beauchamp is at the Congress, and he spoke to former EU budget commissioner Janusz Lewandowski, who was responsible for the largest such funding ever seen in Poland.
