It is estimated that some five million people will suffer from diabetes in Poland by 2030: three million will be pre-diabetic.

While until recently Type 2 diabetes was mostly associated with adults, health professionals now alarm that a growing number of those affected are teenagers and children.
Reporter Alicja Baczyńska talks to Marcin Radziwiłł, CEO of the Medicover Foundation, which has set out to screen some 30,000 kids aged 12-13 for lifesytle-based diseases, among them type 2 diabetes. Children found to be in the risk group may undergo a two-year health-coaching programme under the care of nutritionists, physicians, psychologists and experts on physical activity to alter their lifestyle and get their health back on track…
