A recent survey on patriotism run by pollster Homo Homini has shown that while 20 percent of Poles would either sacrifice their life, health or property for Poland, as many as 40 percent would not give up anything.

This in a country with a celebrated legacy of sacrifice among many Poles throughout the tumultuous history of the country and many fallen in wars and insurgencies of the past eras. Is there little left of that understanding of patriotism in the modern age?
