The 1st Czesław Miłosz Literary Festival is a veritable feast of poetry and prose, as Nobel laureates descend on Krakow to celebrate the life and output of one of Poland's celebrated authors.

Presented by John Beauchamp.

Among the literary notables taking part in the festival are Wisława Szymborska, Seamus Heaney, and Derek Walcott, all of whom are Nobel laureates in the field of literature. Even though the latter is not attending due to ill health, he is addressing an audience in Krakow via satellite link-up...

In this week's programme, we talk to Seamus Heaney, Lithuanian poet Tomas Venclova and Jerzy Illg, the editor-in-chief of the Znak publishing house in Krakow, as well a few words from Heaney's translator into Polish, Magda Heydel.
